Berkeley County Schools has spotlighted several students in its Work Exploration program for February. The initiative partners with local businesses to provide students with disabilities the opportunity to gain real workplace experience and explore potential career paths.

The highlighted students are Howard Thomas, Kendall Marinaccio, Brandon McIntyre, and Elina Banos-Susano.

Howard Thomas, a student from Spring Mills High School, has been involved in the program for two years. He has worked at Food Lion and McDonald’s. His contributions include assisting customers by collecting shopping carts and cleaning tables. “Thomas brings positive energy to his team, working hard to complete every task he’s given,” stated his bio.

Kendall Marinaccio is a sophomore at Musselman High School participating in the program for the first time this year. Her work experiences include positions at Heritage Hall, Valley View Elementary pre-K, and Jersey Mike’s. She aims to work with animals post-graduation. Her bio highlights her initiative: “Kendall goes above and beyond by stepping up to fill in for other students when needed.”

Brandon McIntyre represents Hedgesville High School as their Work Exploration student of February. His roles have included positions at ROCS on Hedgesville Road, the Hedgesville Fire Department, and Chick-fil-A. His dedication is noted: “His eagerness to take on any task demonstrates his reliability and dedication.”

Elina Banos-Susano was chosen by Martinsburg High School as their representative student for February. She gained experience working at Holiday Inn folding towels and sheets for guests. Her bio notes her interpersonal skills: “With her great sense of humor and ability to make others smile, Elina creates a welcoming and uplifting environment wherever she goes.”
