In-state tuition and fees rose 2.4 percent for 2018-19 at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

West Virginia residents paid $4,128 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $96 more than the $4,032 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 80.8 percent more than residents this year, or $7,464. Their price tag grew 2.3 percent from $7,296 in 2017-18.

About 95 percent of the school’s undergraduate population are West Virginia residents. And about 5 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 90 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 184 students received grants or scholarships totaling $903,299 and 97 students took out student loans totaling more than $423,403.

Including all undergraduates (6,273), 1,332 students used grants or scholarships totaling $5.2 million, and 1,010 students took out $4.9 million in federal student loans.
