Maria Menocal has been recognized as the GEM of the Week for her dedicated service in supporting non-English-speaking Hispanic students and their families. Her efforts have been highlighted by Mrs. Williams, who stated, “For many years, I have had the privilege of working with and observing Mrs. Menocal translate for and support our non-English-speaking Hispanic students and their families, both in and out of school. She has been an invaluable advocate, bridging cultural nuances for our non-English speaking Hispanic families and educating staff members. She is truly a GEM in her advocacy efforts.”

Berkeley County Schools and Opequon Elementary expressed gratitude towards Maria Menocal for her commitment to going above and beyond in her role within the school community.
