89 percent of applicants to Shepherd University were admitted for fall 2018

At Shepherd University, 74 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 56 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Shepherdstown enrolled 3,648 students in fall 2018, including 3,380 in undergraduate and 268 in graduate programs, data shows. 8.5 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

64 percent of undergraduates are residents of West Virginia, and 35 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (77 percent) and Black or African American (8 percent).

The school admitted 89 percent of the 1,565 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 42 percent enrolled.
