Shepherd Women’s Soccer Battles to 1-1 Tie in Season Opener

Shepherd University battled to a 1-1 tie with Pitt-Johnstown in women's soccer action at Shepherd on Thursday in the season opener for both schools. 

Pitt-Johnstown took a 1-0 lead when Haley Neidig's shot bounced off a Shepherd defender into the goal at the 19:40 mark. 

Shepherd tied the game at the 31:47 mark when senior forward/midfielder Sara Hohn (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) scored on a penalty kick. 

UPJ had a 17-12 advantage in shots with a 9-6 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks. 

Sophomore Alayna Burgamy (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Pitt-Johnstown) recorded eight saves in goal for the Rams. Sachi Negri posted five saves for the Mountain Cats. 

The Rams return to action on Sunday when they host Saint Thomas Aquinas for a 1 p.m. match
