Shepherd University (8-2) dropped a 3-0 decision to California (Pa.) in volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday night. The Vulcans gained a 25-22, 25-19, 25-23 win.
Senior outside hitter Kiara Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley), senior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy), and senior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) each had seven kills to pace the Rams. Hoy also added 10 digs
Freshman setter Macy Buso (Parker, Colo./Chaparral) and junior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) each contributed 14 assists, while sophomore libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) recorded 12 digs.
Cal was led by Allie Droneberger and Kaylin Burkey with nine kills each. Emily Buwawa and Adrianna Favata each contributed 10 digs.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to California (Pa.) for a 2 p.m. match.
