Herd Tennis Set to Co-Host 2022 Thunder in the Mountains

The Marshall University tennis team is set to co-host the 2022 Thunder in the Mountains with the West Virginia Mountaineers in Charleston, West Virginia. The event will take place at the Kanawha Rec Center.

 

The four-team field will also include the Cincinnati Bearcats and the VCU Rams.

 

On Thursday, the teams are set to practice between Noon and 6 p.m. with a Pro-Am taking placed from 4:30 to 5:45 featuring four WVU and four Marshall student-athletes. There will also be a welcome reception dinner from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the City National Bank Conference Center. It is sponsored by Webb Law Centre, PLLC, and is catered by Pepperoni Grill. The cost is $50.00 per person.

 

The Herd will begin tournament action in doubles against VCU on Friday at 10 a.m. followed by doubles against Cincinnati at 10:40 a.m. Marshall concludes the opening day of the event against WVU in singles slated for 6 p.m. start time.

 

Saturday will start with a kid's clinic at 10 a.m. hosted by Marshall and WVU. The Herd will then take on VCU in singles at 1:15 p.m. and WVU in doubles at 3:30 p.m. Saturday will close with a Marshall vs. WVU men's soccer watch party at Fife Street Brewing. The event will feature free food and drinks and hosted/sponsored by Marshall Alumni Steve and Pam Ellis, Elco, and Delegate Mark Hunt.

 

Marshall closes the event on Sunday in singles action against Cincinnati at 12:30 p.m.
