The Bloomsburg-Shepherd football game slated for this Saturday at Ram Stadium has been designated as Military Appreciation Day/Senior Day.
Active military with identification and prior service personnel with proof of service will be admitted free. Kickoff is slated for noon. The Rams will also honor their senior class for Senior Day. Veterans and active military personnel are invited to come down to the field to take part in the Presentation of Colors by the United States Air Force Honor Guard from Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. and the National Anthem.
The honor guard team will be SSgt Mike Berish, SrA Nicholas Ames, A1C Amani Alexander, and A1C Tavion Hill.
Shepherd will honor World War II combat veteran Jack Myers along with Korean veterans Ed Ringfoot and James Mayhue. Additionally, there wil be a special remberance for the late Charles Freeland. Freeland, a Hump pilot during World War II, was a Shepherd graduate and later served as a Shepherd professor.
A pregame flyover by a McDonnell Douglas/Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft will be provided by the 167th Airlift Squadron of the West Virginia Air National Guard in Martinsburg. Veterans and active military personnel are asked to report to the south end zone at 11:40 a.m.
Additionally, a flyover will also take place at halftime. Two Warbirds, T-6 aircraft used as trainers in World War II, piloted by David Kahley and Jim Koch, will perform.
