Michael Bradley scored a game-high 16 points to lead Mercyhurst (10-2, 6-2 PSAC) to a win over Shepherd (7-7, 4-4 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at Mercyhurst on Wednesday.
Sophomore guard Aidan Hughley (York, Pa./York Suburban) led the Rams with 11 points. He connected on 5-of-6 shots from the floor with a 1-of-1 effort from three-point range.
Junior guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) added 10 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Senior guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) contributed seven points and tied Pipeloluwa Ajayi of Mercyhurst for game-high rebounding honors with nine boards.
MiyKah McIntosh scored 11 points and Nicholas Lang tossed in 10 points for the Lakers. Lang added six assists and five rebounds.
Shepherd connected on 34 percent (16-47) of its field goals with a 33.3 percent (7-21) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 66.7 percent (6-9) of their free throws.
Mercyhurst shot 48.1 percent (26-54) from the floor with a 52.4 percent (11-21) effort from beyond the arc. The Lakers hit on 63.6 percent (7-11) of their free throws.
Mercyhurst had a 24-22 lead at halftime.
Mercyhurst opened the second half on a 12-2 run to open up a 12-point lead at 36-24 after a three-pointer by McIntosh with 16:36 left. The Lakers would maintain a double-digit lead for the rest of the game.
Rebounds were even at 29-all. The Rams forced 11 turnovers and committed 19.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Bloomsburg for a 1 p.m. contest.
