At approximately 4 p.m. yesterday an 8” waterline was hit by a fiber optic installation contractor at the intersection of North George Street and West 7th Avenue in Ranson. To err on the side of caution and ensure the safety and health of our customers, a blanket boil water notice was issued as of 4:00 p.m. on March 7, 2023 for Charles Town and Ranson customers. Locust Hill, Tuscawilla and Huntfield were not impacted as tank levels and pressures were monitored and no loss of pressure was experienced in these locations. Phone calls went out to customers in the areas surrounding downtown Charles Town and Old Town Ranson consistent with State Health Department protocols.
CTUB promptly notified all necessary agencies and affected customers. CTUB staff, along with the City of Charles Town, City of Ranson and Independent Fire Company worked diligently to address this line break. We greatly appreciate this community support in an emergency that impacted so many with significant water flows due to the damage to the waterline.
The line was repaired around 11 p.m. last evening and all necessary actions to adhere to the boil water notice are in effect. CTUB will be obtaining samples this morning, March 8, 2023 and hope to obtain results that will lift the boil water notice tomorrow morning, March 9, 2023.
If there are any questions on the Boil Water notice in effect, please contact CTUB at (304) 725-2316. We appreciate your patience and support to ensure the safety and health of all of our customers.
