Shepherd Men Top Bloomsburg on Senior Day

Sophomore guard Aidan Hughley (York, Pa./York Suburban) scored a game-high 18 points to lead Shepherd (13-11, 10-8 PSAC) to a 65-37 win over Bloomsburg (1-21, 1-17 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action on Senior Day at the Butcher Center on Saturday. 

Hughley hit on 6-of-9 field goals with a 2-of-3 effort from three-point range. He was 4-of-4 from the foul line. Hughley added five rebounds and an assist. Senior guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) had 11 points, eight rebounds, one assist, and a steal. He was the lone senior honored for Senior Day.                                                                                           Sophomore guard Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) had 11 points, while junior guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) had 10 points, eight boards, and four assists. Junior guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) dished out a game-high six assists. 

Matt Bengel led Bloomsburg with 11 points. Desmond Freeman added seven, while Jake Nelson had five points and tied Preston and Jordan for game-high rebounding honors with eight boards. 

Shepherd had a 29-13 lead at halftime. 

Shepherd connected on 43.4 percent (23-53) of its field goals with a 35.5 percent (11-31) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 80 percent (8-10) of their free throws. 

Bloomsburg shot 29.8 percent (14-47) from the floor with an 18.2 percent (4-22) effort from beyond the arc. The Huskies hit on 71.4 percent (5-7) of their free throws. 

Shepherd had a 35-30 rebounding advantage. The Rams forced 13 turnovers and committed five. 

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host West Chester for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
