Shepherd University (17-9, 5-4 PSAC East) pounded out 20 hits on the day en route to a 25-17 win over Mansfield (5-15, 0-9 PSAC East) in PSAC East baseball action at Mansfield on Wednesday.  

Shepherd took a 4-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run blast by graduate student catcher Zach Doss (Waldorf, Md./North Point/Maryland) keying the rally. 

Mansfield answered back in the bottom of the first with three runs keyed by a two-run homer by Jacob Houtz. 

Shepherd added six runs in the third as senior infielder Ryan Haddaway (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) and senior first baseman Ross Mulhall (Morgantown, W.Va./University/Gardner-Webb) each contributed two-run singles. 

Graduate student third baseman Connor Dewees (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) belted a solo blast in the fourth to up the Shepherd lead to 11-3. 

The Mountaineers plated four runs in the bottom of the fourth with Kurt Biesecker, Houtz, and Josh Farina each driving in a run. 

Shepherd got a two-run homer from Dewees and a two-run single by junior outfielder Idris Carter (Uniondale, N.Y./Roosevelt/Stony Brook) in the fifth to take a 15-7 advantage. 

Mansfield scored six runs on six hits in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 15-13. Shander and Jeffrey Coakley each had two-run singles to ignite the rally. 

Shepherd added a run in the sixth on a solo blast by Mulhall. 

The Rams scored nine runs on five hits in the seventh to take a 25-13 lead. Carter's two-run single highlighted the rally. 

Mansfield added four runs on three hits in the bottom of the seventh to complete the scoring. 

Carter went 4-for-6 and drove in six runs to pace the Rams. Mulhall, Dewees, and Haddaway each added three hits. 

Zachary Shertzer went 4-for-6 to lead the Mountaineers. 

Junior pitcher Aaron Snyder (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg/Canisius) (1.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 K, 1 BB) (1-0) gained the victory. Houtz (0.2 IP, 2 H, 4 ER, 1 K, 2 BB) (0-3) took the loss.
