Friends of Music has awarded a $400 grant to Berkeley Heights Elementary School. The funds will be used to purchase additional xylophones for the school's music classes.

The instruments, Lyons-brand diatonic soprano xylophones, are intended for students in kindergarten through second grade as part of their general music program.

Music teacher Meghan Butler, who applied for the grant, stated, "The grant will help more students get opportunities to play the xylophone." She emphasized that beyond musical concepts like dynamics and rhythm, students will develop skills such as hand-eye coordination and creativity.
