DSST is celebrating our six amazing School Psychologists this week for National School Psychologist Week.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, school psychologists provide direct support and interventions to students, and consult with teachers, families, and other school-employed mental health professionals to improve support strategies. School psychologists also work with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies and collaborate with community providers to coordinate needed services.
Our school psychologists play a pivotal role in providing social, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive support for our whole school as well as for individual students through whole community training and resources to individual services.
Perhaps most importantly, our school psychologists are the only people in our network that can conduct cognitive evaluations and are our true experts when it comes to evaluating students with disabilities. They are also experts in assessments and evaluations and bring an immense amount of culturally responsive and trauma-informed knowledge to the evaluation space.
We want to give a huge shoutout to not just our, but all school psychologists and all the hard work they do! Below is a video from some of our staff thanking each of our school psyches for everything they do each day at DSST.
