Are you still taking classes? If so, where are you taking classes, and are you planning to complete another degree? What degree are you working toward?
Yes, I’ll be taking an online class at EWVCTC in the Spring 2023 semester and am working towards my degree in Business Management.
Current Employer/Job (if applicable):
Self-employed on a seasonal part-time basis; proprietress of a micro-business in Seneca Rocks, WV.
What is something you learned (knowledge, training, skills) while you were completing your Board of Governor’s degree that you utilize in your workplace and/or current studies?
Time management is always a challenge for me but is essential when allocating it to flexible time blocks of study. I didn’t have any skills when I started classes back in 2016 concerning personal computers, so I was also learning about them in conjunction with all classes.
Please share if any specific courses, faculty, and/or staff at Eastern have contributed to your success and how they helped you.
I must give a lot of kudos to Seyed Mirkhani who was very patient with me while I was learning about how to use my home computer; I had a lot of phone conversations with him about how to use it. Also, I have to give credit to Monica Wilson, who guided me with a lot of other things. However, I feel that all my instructors contributed toward my success and did, in their own way, encouraged me. They were all very helpful when I had questions about anything pertaining to my classes.
What advice would you give to other adults who might be considering the Board of Governor’s degree at Eastern?
I’d say to go for it no matter how intimidating the challenges seem to be; I believe no one is too old to learn new things.
Please feel free to share recent accomplishments and achievements in the workforce or in your continued studies. You can include projects, awards, and any relevant information.
I also earned a Certificate in Administrative Support Technology, on May 11, 2019. In March 2021 I created a tri-fold color brochure for my micro-business using techniques I learned from a Word online class from Eastern.
