Berkeley County Schools recently recognized four students participating in the December Work Exploration program. These students, Jacklyn (Jackie) Wenger, Dylan Henderson, Matias Penadillo-Quevedo, and Makayla Cook, were acknowledged for their dedication and positive attitudes as they explored various job opportunities within the community.

Jacklyn Wenger, a senior at Musselman High School, is in her second year with the program. She has gained experience working at several locations including South Berkeley Library and Food Lion. "She is diligent and a hard worker who gives her all with each task," Berkeley County Schools stated in Wenger’s bio.

Dylan Henderson from Hedgesville High School is also a senior. He currently assists the maintenance staff at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church and has previously worked at Bentley’s Pet Supply Store. His interest in graphic design led him to shadow the owner of Davis Design in Martinsburg.

Matias Penadillo-Quevedo worked at McDonald’s where he learned about maintaining cleanliness and stocking supplies. "He took pride in his work and really enjoyed his job," according to Berkeley County Schools.

Makayla Cook from Spring Mills High School is in her first year of the program. She works at a local dog groomer owned by Diana Flegel, where she bathes dogs of various sizes. Cook's passion for dogs makes this an ideal opportunity for her.
