Berkeley County Schools praises work exploration students for March

Berkeley County Schools recently acknowledged the accomplishments of Work Exploration students for March from each of the district's four high schools. This initiative provides students with disabilities opportunities to explore various careers and formulate their post-graduation plans.

Hedgesville High School acknowledged senior Hailey Nicholson, who has been involved in the program for two years. She has gathered experience at multiple establishments including Butterflies and Bullfrogs, St. Bernadette Catholic Church, and Eagle Diner. Her consistent positivity and skill growth have been noted by her colleagues.

From Martinsburg High School, Chase May has worked at ROCS, Jersey Mike’s, and DeFluri’s Fine Chocolates, focusing on customer service. His bio highlights his reliability and eagerness to learn: “He is a hardworking, dependable student, who always aims to please.” May's cooperative spirit and determination have been significant assets in his workplace.

At Musselman High School, junior Alvin Hoppe is in his second year with the program. He has gained practical skills at Tripp’s Flooring, Fox Auto, Butler Farms, Ameritech Tire and Auto, and ROCS. He exhibits a strong inclination for hands-on tasks and plans to pursue farming as a career path.

Spring Mills High School recognized Marcus Manning for his dedication and work ethic at Pizza Montese and Spring Mills Diner. His bio praises his resilience and positive outlook: “Marcus’s resilience, optimism and uplifting ‘can-do’ attitude inspire not only his classmates but also the employees he interacts with at both businesses.”

This program provides valuable experience for students, allowing them to develop essential skills for their future careers.
