The public is invited to get into the holiday spirit during two free events sponsored by Shepherd University’s Department of History and George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War.
“A Classical Brass Christmas” will take place Thursday, December 1, at 7 p.m. in the Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church, 100 W. Washington St. A brass quintet consisting of current and former Shepherd faculty will take the audience on a journey of Christmas through the centuries as they perform a set of holiday and other classical pieces from the 16th-20th centuries.
The George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War, 136 W. German St., will be the backdrop for a Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 3, from noon-5 p.m. The event will include house tours, toy/craft creation, and living history demonstrations of Christmas across the ages. Guests will learn about the tradition of the yule log at 2 p.m., including a demonstration and opportunity for children to craft their own logs
